Those who know me know that the one thing about my aesthetic that is truly low maintenance is my hair. Oh sure, I do what all the other girls do - wash, co-wash, condition, deep condition, set, style. Ya know, that stuff. But I'm not one for flair when it comes to my strands.
Needless to say this also means I don't visit a salon often, outside of my yearly straighten and trim.
That at-home routine has just been shaken up by my amazing experience at the Red Scarlet Salon in Orlando. I had the amazing opportunity to sit down with their natural hair stylist Dee and she has opened my eyes to the importance of professional hair care.
First let me say that Dee is the sweetest person ever in life. She has such a pleasant demeanor and was willing to share her 10 years of hair care experience with me as she assessed my then dry and tangled curls. I went into this experience with the Red Scarlet looking for a cute summer style and decided on flexi rods.
I was fully washed ( after being asked if that was ok for me hair - how considerate!), conditioned, detangled and styled before sitting under a hooded dryer for a bit.
Side note: I shed like a dog on wash day. And that day was no different. But Dee shared that a good trim may be the solution to my shedding overall. Nice!
The Red Scarlet is a beautiful and comfortable salon. One of the best I've ever experienced. They have an amazing attentive staff and are stocked with accommodations like cell phone chargers for your convenience. Needless to say I was in total comfort as I waited for my flexi's to dry.
Let me tell you it was worth it! My curls were bouncy, soft and shiny. I was able to rock the style for a little over a week. I believe I could have lasted longer but the Florida rain got to me one sad afternoon.
I plan on sitting down with Dee bi-monthly just to check in on the status of these curls and to shake up my normal style routine! My hair is amazingly soft and healthy feeling, even days after the initial styling. I've never has that type of longevity when I've treated my hair at home.
